Job Description:

Allogene Therapeutics is seeking an independent and highly motivated individual to support the development of CAR T cells for solid tumors. Reporting to a Senior Principal Scientist, the successful applicant will provide scientific and technical expertise to develop complex preclinical solid tumor models, characterize the solid tumor microenvironment, and discover and evaluate genetic modifications to enhance the efficacy of CAR T cells. The ideal candidate is an individual who is excited to take on new challenges in a dynamic and highly collaborative environment.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Design and execute in vivo studies to develop preclinical solid tumor models and characterize the solid tumor microenvironment
  • Design and execute in vivo studies to identify genetic modifications that increase CAR T cell activity, and evaluate their preclinical efficacy and safety
  • Design and execute in vitro assays to elucidate mechanisms behind genetic modifications increase CAR T cell activity
  • Contribute to a collaborative group effort to advance next-generation AlloCAR T cell therapies into the clinic
  • Stay abreast of latest scientific and technology advancements in the field
  • Train and mentor junior scientists
  • Present at group meetings and project team meetings
  • Other duties as assigned

Position Requirements & Experience:

  • PhD degree candidate in immunology or related discipline with 0-3 years of post-doctoral research experience
  • Experience and strong interest in cell therapy and/or immuno-oncology research
  • Hands-on experience with mouse tumor models (e.g. animal dosing, blood and tissue collection, caliper measurement and IVIS imaging) is preferred
  • Hands-on experience in mouse and human T cell isolation and culture is preferred
  • Hands-on experience in retroviral/lentiviral transduction of mouse and human T cells is preferred
  • Ability to design and execute in vitro and in vivo studies to evaluate mouse and human CAR T cell activity and safety
  • Proficiency in flow cytometry-based characterization of immune cells
  • Knowledge and experience in molecular biology and plasmid vector design is preferred
  • Knowledge and experience in gene editing technologies, including CRISPR/Cas9, is preferred
  • Excellent organizational skills and an ability to prioritize effectively to deliver results within reasonably established timelines
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong interpersonal skills including verbal and written communication are essential in this collaborative work environment
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S.
