About the role:

Allogene Therapeutics is seeking a highly motivated candidate to join our summer internship program. The candidate in this role will be responsible for generating and characterizing CAR T cells. Specifically, the candidate will be investigating the functionality of CAR T cell with different modifications in in vitro assays. Reporting to a Senior Scientist, the intern will develop their scientific and technical expertise.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • The candidate will generate CAR T cells and characterize their phenotype and functionality using in vitro assays
  • The candidate will execute in vitro studies to evaluate CAR T cell activity
  • The candidate will perform primary T cell functional assays such as luciferase-based cytotoxicity assays, multi-color flow cytometry, and maintain cell culture of primary T cells and cancer cell lines.
  • The individual will be responsible for analyzing experimental results
  • Communicate plans and results in oral presentations
  • Other duties as assigned

Position Requirements & Experience:

  • Must be at least 18 years or older
  • Undergraduates who have completed at least one year of undergraduate coursework, or masters students majoring in immunology, biology, or a related field required (or relevant experience)
  • Passionate to learn about biomedical research and enthusiastic about the development of cell therapies
  • Basic lab skills, especially cell culture techniques are highly preferred
  • Ability to work independently with guidance
  • Strong interpersonal skills including verbal and written communication are essential in this collaborative work environment.
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the U.S.
