About the role:

Allogene Therapeutics is seeking a highly motivated and passionate candidate to join our summer internship program. Reporting to a Senior Scientist, the individual will be responsible for generating and characterizing allogeneic CAR T cells for hematologic malignancies. The individual will not only gain technical skills but also develop scientific reasoning and gain hands-on experience in allogeneic CAR T cell biology at one of the most innovative and pioneering organizations in the field. The individual will also have opportunities to build professional leadership and network through presentations and social events.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Contributes to developing next-gen allogeneic CAR T cells that evade host immune surveillance and rejection by generating CAR T cells with genetic modifications and characterizing their phenotype/functionality using in vitro assays
  • Performs primary T cell-based assays such as luciferase-based cytotoxicity assays and multi-color flow cytometry
  • Maintains cell culture of primary T cells and cancer cell lines
  • Documents and analyzes research data
  • Participates in lab meetings and other collaborative activities
  • Showcases achievements with oral/poster presentations at the conclusion of internship
  • Other duties as assigned

Position Requirements & Experience:

  • Must be at least 18 years or older
  • Must be enrolled full-time in the fall semester at an accredited university/college after the completion of the internship
  • Has completed at least one year of undergraduate work
  • Majors in the following backgrounds: Immunology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Bioengineering, Cell Biology, Genetics, or a related field of study
  • Must be able to complete a 12-14 consecutive week internship between May and September
  • 1-2 years of relevant lab experience and familiarity with aseptic techniques is preferred
  • Excellent organizational skills and an ability to prioritize effectively to deliver results within reasonably established timelines
  • Strong interpersonal skills including verbal and written communication
  • Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship
