About the role:

We are seeking a hard-working, enthusiastic Associate Scientist/Senior Associate Scientist to contribute to developing next-generation AlloCAR T cells for the treatment of hematologic malignancies and solid tumors. You will be working closely with researchers to support preclinical in vivo studies utilizing tumor xenograft models. The successful candidate will have extensive experience working with mice and will have the opportunity to learn new in vitro skills, developing experience in flow cytometry for CAR T cell pharmacokinetics. The ideal candidate will show the ability to conduct in vivo studies with minimum supervision and to generate high-quality data to support Allogene’s pipeline.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Conduct studies to assess efficacy and persistence of CAR T cells in orthotopic tumor models.
  • Provide critical support to other in vivo scientists and contribute to a collaborative team-oriented environment.
  • Generate CAR T cells and characterize their phenotype and function in vitro.
  • Phenotype CAR T cells using flow cytometry.
  • Design and perform experimental plans with minimal guidance, document laboratory procedures and analyze and record data.
  • Present at group meetings and project team meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Biology or related discipline with 3+ years of experience, or Master of Science degree with 1+ years of experience in an academic or industry setting.
  • Experience working with mice is a must. Tumor inoculation and measurement, animal dosing (i.v., i.p., and s.c.), blood and tissue collection and processing, is strongly desired.
  • Experience in molecular biology, cellular biology, or immunology.
  • Basic knowledge and experience of flow analysis is preferred.
  • Direct experience with tissue culture of cell lines and primary cells.
  • Prior experience with T-cell culture and characterization including in vitro cytotoxicity, proliferation, and cytokine release is desirable but not required.
  • Proficiency in the use of software tools to support data analysis (e.g., Prism, FlowJo).
  • A willingness to learn and adopt new experimental skills as needed is essential.
  • Previous experience with electronic lab notebooks (ELN) is a plus.
  • Excellent organizational skills and an ability to prioritize effectively to deliver results within reasonably established timelines.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong interpersonal skills including verbal and written communication are essential in this collaborative work environment.
