2018 Summer Associate - Latin America

Job Description

Responsibilities

Client Service:

Work closely with ASG professional staff to serve client engagements across Latin America, addressing market-specific and regional challenges and opportunities.

Conduct in-depth research and analysis on key topics, political and economic developments, and industries related to the work of our clients and prospective clients across the continent.

Prepare internal and external briefing memos and materials for senior leaders, draft research memos and deliverables for clients, and participate in client interactions.

Monitor public source information and international news for issues of relevance to ASG clients.

Business Development:

Support marketing, new business development, and client expansion efforts.

Prepare senior staff and leaders for business development meetings.

Conduct background research on specific companies and their global strategies, projects, and plans.

Management:

Design and execute 1-2 strategic projects throughout the summer related to developing the Latin America practice and specific to candidate’s skills and experience.

Assist with administrative tasks as needed.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Current or recent graduate student. Relevant degree programs include, but are not limited to-  Public Policy and International Affairs (MPP), Business and Management (MBA), Law (JD), Foreign Service, Economics, Finance, International Development, and Regional Studies

Minimum of three (3) years of professional experience. Experience working or studying in Latin America is strongly preferred. Experience in government, policy, diplomacy, politics, or finance is a plus.

Fluency in Spanish and/or Portuguese is required.

Established knowledge base of at least one Latin American country through work or study, including a good understanding of bilateral U.S. relations and familiarity with current political, economic, and social issues of that country. 

Strong writing, editing, research, and analytical skills, as well as ability to think critically about research scope and content.

Strong PowerPoint skills.

Self-starting, with the ability to operate on both long-term and short-term projects without direct supervision, and a “can-do” attitude.
