2018 Summer Associate - East Asia and Pacific

Job Description

 

Responsibilities

Client Service:

Work closely with ASG professional staff to serve client engagements across East Asia and Pacific (EAP), addressing market specific and regional challenges and opportunities.

Conduct in-depth research and analysis (in a Southeast Asian language and English) on key topics and industries related to the work of our clients and prospective clients in a wide set of regions around the world.

Prepare internal and external briefing memos and materials for senior leaders, draft research memos and deliverables for clients, and participate in client interactions.

Monitor public source information and international news for issues of relevance to ASG clients.

Business Development:

Support marketing, new business development, and client expansion efforts.

Prepare senior staff and leaders for business development meetings.

Conduct background research on specific companies and their global strategies, projects, and plans.

Management:

Design and execute 1-2 strategic projects throughout the summer related to developing the EAP practice in line specific to candidate’s skills and experience.

Assist with administrative tasks as they arise.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Current or recent graduate student. Relevant degree programs include, but are not limited to-  Public Policy and International Affairs (MPP), Business and Management (MBA), Law (JD), Public Health (MPH), Foreign Service, Economics, Finance, International Development, and Regional Studies

Minimum three (3) years of professional experience. Experience working or studying in the EAP region is strongly preferred. Experience in trade policy, finance, or commercial industries is a plus.

Professional working proficiency in a Southeast Asian language is required, including the ability to read newspapers and government documents.

Established knowledge base of the EAP region through work or study, including a good understanding of U.S.-EAP relations and familiarity with EAP political, economic, and social issues.

Strong writing, editing, research, and analytical skills, as well as ability to think critically about research scope and content.

Strong PowerPoint skills

Self-starting, with the ability to operate on both long-term and short-term projects without direct supervision, and a “can-do” attitude.
