Applied Insight is looking for a Senior Linux Administrator to support an IT program at Untied Status Marshalls Service (USMS). In this position you will work with a team that provides computing capabilities and in-depth support for our clients and users. The team builds and maintains user environments, delivers subject matter expert support, and application-level software and tools.

A day in the life (just a few of the things you may do on any given day):

  • Ability to work 100% on customer site (no telework)
  • Perform installations and patching of Linux and Windows operating systems
  • Assist customers with the installation and updates of applications
  • Install software and troubleshoot software install issues
  • Monitor systems and preform hardware troubleshooting, tracking, resolution, and routine maintenance and security updates
  • Ensure security protocols and standards are applied and tracked
  • Perform system backups and provide data recovery
  • Document processes and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
  • Monitor resource usage, anticipate problems, and suggest solutions
  • Manage production and development systems and provide higher-level technical support (Tier III) to clients when needed
  • Work closely with colleagues to meet team goals and improve processes and practices
  • Create and maintain documentation of the systems
  • Conduct configuration, deployment, troubleshooting, and maintenance of various versions of Microsoft Windows OSs
  • Conduct configuration, deployment, troubleshooting, and maintenance of various versions of RedHat Linux OSs
  • Provide software and hardware support to the customer development team
  • Setup and maintain offsite disaster recovery environment
  • Review system and security logs and report to the team regarding incidents or potential threats to the network environment, systems, users, and/or infrastructure
  • Work with load balancing, fail-over, and data replication technologies
  • Utilize WSUS, Ivanti, and/or other industry patching solutions

What we are expecting from you (i.e. the qualifications you must have):

  • BS and 9 years of related experience (4 years experience in lieu of degree)
  • Active Secret or above clearance
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and independently when needed
  • Understanding of IT security best practices
  • Understanding of basic networking concepts
  • Outgoing team player and self-motivated individual with excellent communication skills with the ability and desire to interact with all users and work closely with other technical staff or independently
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task effectively under pressure with the ability to frequently re-assess priorities for multiple tasks or projects
  • Strong time management and resource management capabilities
  • Must have advanced working knowledge of a variety of computer software applications such as MS Teams, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio, Outlook, MS Project, SharePoint
  • Experience with creating POAM milestones, and compliance and ensuring application of DISA STIG releases and STIG results analysis
  • Ability to understand IAVAs and remediate issues as needed
  • Experience in building, operating, and maintaining Windows Server 2019/2022, RHEL 7/8/9 servers, and/or CentOS servers

What we are desiring from you (i.e. the nice-to-have qualifications):

  • VMWare ESXi / vCenter / Site Recovery Manager
  • ADFS / ID Mgt / PKI Certs / etc.
  • Cisco Hyperflex technologies
  • Experience writing scripts in a PowerShell and/or Linux environment
  • Understanding of disk storage systems (RAID, LUNs, etc.)
  • Experience with NetApp storage products and file system technologies
  • Managing container environments (e.g. Docker, Kubernetes, etc.)
  • Experience working with code repositories and continuous integration (CI) servers like Gitlab, Jenkins, etc.
  • Managing infrastructure services such as DNS, DHCP, GPOs, etc.
  • Knowledgeable in application transport and network infrastructure protocols (SSL/TLS, DNS, DHCP, NTP, SSH, HTTP/S, SMTP, and Microsoft AD), and possess an understanding of how to support these applications/protocols
  • Possess computing environment training or certification in any of the following: Windows Server, Red Hat, NetApp, VMware, Broadcom, and/or Cisco or other networking platforms
  • Experience in the application of DISA STIGs or SRGs, DoD, DoJ, and/or IC policies and procedures
  • Experience in managing Active Directory, configuring, and managing Group Policy Objects (GPO), FSMO roles, DNS, DHCP, etc.
  • Microsoft Exchange 2019/2022 administration
