As a Mid-Level Linux Infrastructure Engineer with Networking Experience, you will play a pivotal role in actively shaping and expanding our infrastructure within a dynamic research environment. Your responsibilities go beyond traditional troubleshooting, encompassing the engineering of solutions to extend researchers' capabilities, empowering them to expand and succeed in their research endeavors. You will be a key contributor in resolving technical challenges within Linux and Windows environments through various channels, including phone, email, chat, and ticketing systems (JIRA/Confluence). This role not only involves supporting daily IT operational activities but also making substantial contributions and allows you to help propose and engineer solutions to specific research projects and needs.

What we are expecting from you (i.e. the qualifications you must have):

  • Active TS/SCI with Polygraph security clearance
  • Hands-on experience with Linux and/or Windows
  • Hands-on experience with Active Directory
  • Experience providing systems and application support for large networks, including hardware and software support, creating and maintaining Active Directory and Unix accounts, and resolving tickets in a timely manner.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with a strong emphasis on customer service
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP protocols; understanding, analyzing, and troubleshooting
  • Ability to quickly learn and adapt to the latest virtualization and networking technologies.
  • Six (6) years of experience in application prototype development
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Computer Science or a related discipline, or a Master's Degree with four (4) years of experience, or a Ph.D. with zero (0) years of experience. In lieu of a Bachelor’s degree, an additional four (4) years of experience is required for a total of 10 years.
  • Proactive and adaptable mindset, with the ability to think outside the box to solve complex problems.
  • Actively engage in engineering solutions to enhance researchers' capabilities and contribute to their success.
  • Challenge yourself to continually learn the latest technologies and leverage that knowledge to present use cases on how these technologies will further research
