Your Mission: Bring modern-day application development capabilities using the latest-greatest AWS services

Enhance your current skillset by disrupting traditional processes by building a cloud-native using AWS technologies and modern programming languages and methodologies. You will be an integral part of a team of knowledgeable technologists responsible for helping to build a nationwide cloud presence within the IC for software development. This is a multi-faceted position requiring you to spend time working directly with AWS services and various web frameworks and languages (Django, Python, Serverless/Zappa) to create scalable and modern-day cloud-native web applications.

A day in the life (just a few of the things you may do on any given day):

  1. Design the overall architecture of modern-day web applications following best-practice patterns.
  2. Maintain quality and ensure the responsiveness of applications.
  3. Collaborate with the rest of the engineering team to design and launch new features.
  4. Maintain code integrity and organization.
  5. Proficient in creating Python-based API Endpoints that connect to a variety of data stores (MySQL, Dynamodb, etc.)
  6. Understanding and implementation of security and data protection.
  7. Experience using AWS services or willing to learn (Lambda, API Gateway, etc.)
  8. Highly experienced with back-end programming languages (Ex: Python, Java, JavaScript, MySQL, Django, etc.)
  9. Knowledge of code versioning tools (Git).
  10. Familiar with Scrum/Agile development practices
  11. You have advanced experience/knowledge of database (relational) architecture and design and extract, transform, load (ETL) processes

You will excel in this role if you are:

  1. Embracing Emerging Technology: You will leverage AWS and its accompanying tools daily as you help build modern-day serverless/micro-services-based Web apps.
  2. Well-rounded: You appreciate the opportunity to work across multiple technologies such as Python, Django, Lambda, Serverless, SQL/NO-SQL, and other AWS technologies (RDS. EC2, SQS..).
  3. Motivated: You want to learn new things and work with new technologies continually.
  4. Agile: Able to work as part of a small team to develop a solution for commercial and government customers. Focused on Automation: Wherever possible, you look for ways to automate manual processes to increase efficiency, speed, and operability of tasks.

What we are expecting from you (i.e. the qualifications you must have):

  1. 16 years experience and a Bachelors degree. In place of a Bachelors degree, 4 additional years experience is required
  2. At least 16 years of technical experience with a strong fundamental understanding of application development such as API design, deployment, and maintenance.
  3. Experience with designing and deploying API endpoints
  4. Strong willingness to learn new technologies
  5. 5+ years experience building web applications to support user workflows
  6. Experience with web backend integration, including RESTful web services, messaging, user authentication/entitlements, JSON data management, and user session/preferences management.
  7. Active TS/SCI w Polygraph Clearance

What we are desiring from you (i.e. the nice-to-have qualifications):

  1. AWS experience preferred, but not mandatory
  2. AWS Solutions Architect or Developer Associate Certification
