A day in the life (just a few of the things you may do on any given day):
As a System Engineer, you will be responsible for DevOps, SRE, SA, SE, and ISSO responsibilities. You will work collaboratively with the team to ensure smooth operations and provide support for various cloud-based systems.
- Provide DevOps support for application development, ensure applications work within the infrastructure, and be responsible for operations once the initial tool is deployed.
- Perform Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) tasks to ensure close to 100% uptime and peak application performance. Create dashboards, alerts, thresholds, custom status checks, etc. to improve visibility and insight into the health and status of the application cluster.
- Perform System Administrator (SA) duties, including working with Linux, logging, monitoring, compliance, etc.
- Work with ISSO to perform duties associated with the project SSP and be familiar with tools used for scanning and reporting of the objects in the SSP.
- Design and maintain the project architecture by utilizing tools such as Kubernetes, TerraForm, AWS, Helm, etc.
- Monitor, maintain, and configure various cloud-based systems supporting the Capabilities Service Center (CSC).
- Assist in the execution of standard processes, application management, and development and maintenance of documentation and SOPs.
What we are expecting from you (i.e. the qualifications you must have):
- Active TS/SCI w/ Polygraph Clearance
- Bachelor's Degree in a relevant technical field + 6 years' experience OR High School + 8 years' experience OR Master's Degree + 4 years
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience with Cloud infrastructure and provisioning, knowledge of the purpose and operation of most common cloud services (i.e., compute, storage, memory, networking, load balancing, user access management, key management, and managed databases).
- Strong experience with Kubernetes (1-2 years) (specifically cluster development, management, monitoring, and optimization), authoring experience with Helm (creating & deploying), BASH scripting, and Linux.
- Background in Amazon Web Services (AWS), and System network and server administration.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
What we are desiring from you (i.e. the nice-to-have qualifications):
- AWS certification, Python, Ansible, Terraform, OpenStack.
- Experience with containerization in Docker, Rook-Ceph.
