We have gone through exponential growth since 2017 and provide a wide range of high-quality services across Essex. Each year we support more than 1000 people through advice and information; befriending; emotional support services; and friendship groups and activities. Our long-term ambition is to continue to grow so that we can make a difference to live of every person 60+ in Essex and Suffolk by continuing to grow our services and look for new areas of innovation.

The overall current services that we provide covers: -
Enabling advice & welfare solutions for people aged 60 and over across benefits & entitlements, housing, care and more
Providing a befriending service according to the needs of the individual
Providing clubs for those in older life for companionship
Support in times of bereavement and end of life
Delivering a community hub and cafe for those in later life
The people that volunteer and work with us are special and provide a great deal of care for those in later life and who need support, advice, information and sometimes just someone to listen.

What are we looking for?
The role is 19 hours per week advice & welfare work between the hours of 9am - 5pm Monday - Friday.
The salary is £9,909
Assess welfare benefits and advice needs upon referral receipt.
Identification and implementation of solutions to support continued choice and independence including assisting with applications and advice for welfare benefits, housing and care.
Support people to access blue badge parking permits where appropriate.
Deliver advice through a mix of telephone, face to face and home visiting appointments.
Support navigation to and connection with appropriate community-based services to ensure services and resources are in place to sustain independent living at home or where appropriate to identify suitable solutions towards supported living arrangements.
Identify and develop positive referral pathways with providers of housing options across the community.
Develop and maintain effective reporting of advice casework and case studies to ensure impact and value of service is captured.
Provide a person-centred approach to advice and support for people in later years.
Develop effective relationships with key stakeholders across the community to support positive partnership working and knowledge and skill sharing.
Establish a network of positive relationships with internal and external colleagues effective for improving outcomes for clients.
Be a trusted team member who is reliable and looked up to by colleagues
Be a positive ambassador for Age Well East with all stakeholders
Cover others as needed in periods of absence or holidays
Strong people skills.
Excellent IT skills.
Excellent communication skills.
Excellent record keeping skills and attention to detail.
Experience of managing safeguarding issues under supervision of a senior team.
Experience and ability to build strong partnerships and networks.
Experience of providing advice within a benefits, housing or care environment.
Ability to work as part of a team.
Ability to be empathetic and supportive to volunteers and clients.
Ability to work autonomously.
Solutions-drive and can-do attitude.
An understanding of confidentiality and GDPR
Willingness to undergo any relevant and ongoing training as required.
Willingness to work flexible to support the work of Age Well East in other areas as required.
Able to be flexible with hours if/when required to meet the needs of the service needs.
Health, social care or relevant third sector experience of supporting people.
All our staff and volunteers go through the DBS process and references will be required.
You will need access to a vehicle, full driving licence and before joining business class insurance.
