What we are looking for in a Production Technician

We're in search of someone who enjoys the autonomy offered by a dynamic small startup environment and takes initiative to find new learning opportunities. As a production technician, you will assist the production team in producing and characterizing aerogels, as well as maintaining and documenting production processes. As the ideal candidate you have experience working in a hands-on setting and have an unwavering commitment to safety. You thrive in fast-paced environments where the results of your work play an important role in advancing new technologies to market.

Responsibilities of this position include:

• Perform a range of lab and manufacturing activities, including making production aerogels, operating pilot manufacturing equipment, and performing various measurements of produced materials
• Run standard QA/QC testing on finished aerogels such as:
  1. Optical testing + imaging
  2. Thermal conductivity
  3. Thickness, weight, density
• Collect, organize, and document results using AeroShield standard documentation platforms and practices
• Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of lab equipment
• Assist with inventory management and organization of production supplies

This role requires candidates to be on-site with most work being conducted in-person at our facility in Hyde Park, MA and from early Summer 2024 at our new facility in Waltham, MA.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required. Associate degree or higher is a plus, ideally in a tech-related field
• Some hands-on experience in a laboratory and/or manufacturing environment
• Ability to pay close attention to detail, focusing on accuracy and quality
• Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to listen, distill information, consult, and suggest new approaches
• Able to learn quickly by leveraging all possible resources
• Highly organized
• Works well in teams
• Passionate about AeroShield values

Bonus skills:

• Able to perform wet-lab chemical experiments, including working in fume hoods
• Experience working hands-on with machinery such as pumps, compressors, and pressure vessels (training provided)
• Data analysis and statistical tools
