What we are looking for in a People and Culture Intern

We’re in search of someone who is highly passionate about human resources and culture and wants to make meaningful changes through their work at an early-stage green-tech startup. The People and Culture intern will be an integral member of the G&A team with a focus on assisting with day-to-day office management and helping to support the development of internal communications strategies to improve employee engagement. They will work closely with the People Coordinator to:

  • Support employees, and be part of the full employee lifecycle process
  • Help to develop operations processes
  • Create and maintain documentation and data to support People management
  • Audit and improve workflows and processes
  • Support initiatives for Inclusion, Diversity, and Equity

Throughout the internship, the intern will be exposed to all human resources procedures and assist with tasks throughout all stages of the employee life cycle process.

Reporting to the People Coordinator, the P&C intern will work closely with the CEO and the People Coordinator and assist with planning and organizing the company’s social and inclusive events.

Specific projects may include:

Human Resources and Team Strategy:

  • Review time sheets and PTO requests and suggest implementation of new automated processes
  • Work with team and consultants to audit AeroShield’s existing HR frameworks and identify gaps
  • Gain familiarity with HR processes, such as identifying roles, recruiting coordination, orientation and onboarding
  • Join the G&A meetings to meet everyone involved in onboarding and participate in projects to improve office efficiency

Hands Experience with Onboarding:

  • Review the onboarding process
  • Support hands-on problem-solving with end-user devices (e.g. laptops, monitors, conference equipment, etc.) for all employees
  • Audit the onboarding process by collecting feedback from recently hired employees
  • Work with the People Coordinator to document gaps in onboarding information and develop a plan to prioritize and address them
  • Spearhead the creation of a new onboarding automated document that will streamline the onboarding process
  • Work with managers to identify needs for interns and assist with role profile creations, connect with local universities, create and post job listings

Creating and Maintaining Documentation:

  • Support the People Coordinator in identifying gaps in the learning resources available to employees
  • Begin to update/improve and create standardized documentation for the organization
  • Create engaging materials and content for company All-Team meetings and DEI/Culture presentations
  • Research & propose a high-level implementation for a Learning Management System to support training and learning at the company – work with managers to find out their training needs and propose 2 different systems with learning modules.
  • Support or co-lead an All-Team training or educational events

We expect this internship to be hybrid, with some work being conducted in-person at our facility in Waltham, MA. Some work (e.g. research) can be done on-site or remotely.
